Chocolate has been a part of Western Hemisphere history as far back as 1,100 BC in the mountains of Central andSouth America. It was used for many purposes including simply sweetening drinks.
Many studies have been done about the potential health benefits like keeping high blood pressure down. Sure, it’s no substitute to a healthy diet complete with fruits and vegetables and eating anything in excess without increased trips to the fitness center won’t be good.
But that’s no excuse to lose your inhibitions and pig out at the 5th annual Chocolate Affair in Olde Town Arvada on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Presented by Historic Olde Town Arvada and the Arvada Festivals Commission, this day will be filled with chocolate from all angles with sampling at DiCicco’s Banquet Room and the D-Note Restaurant of everything from fudge and brownies to cakes and other concoctions.
There will also be a Chocolate Treasure Hunt, romantic carriage rides and the Chocolate Cookie Contest open to all ages to determine the most creatively decorated and favorite cookie.
Proceeds will benefit the Arvada Ralston House, a child advocacy center dedicated to assisting some of Colorado’s most vulnerable citizens – innocent children and adolescents who’ve been abused.
You can help by purchasing six sampling tickets for just $5. They’ll be available at the door staring at 11 a.m. This fun family event will run until 2:30 p.m. and for more information, contact Historic Olde Town Arvada at (303) 420-6100.
