Denver is full of historic streets that hold hidden gems in neighborhoods you may never encounter or think of when pondering a place to eat your next meal. That’s where the Friday Afternoon club comes in.
A product of Culinary Connectors, you’ll be taken on a walking tour with a chef who will lead you to four different restaurants for a small tasting. You’ll finish with happy hour, a tale to tell and a much better understanding of where to eat in the area.
On Dec. 2 they’ll start at Gaetano’s in East Highland and continue to Rosa Linda’s Mexican Cafe, Spuntino and The Cellar Wine Bar along Tejon Street, about six miles east on I-70 to Pecos Street.
A week later the walking tour will begin at Happy Cakes, home to the city’s Top Cupcake four years running and favored by Martha Stewart. They’ll also explore Stella’s, Basil Doc’s and Sushi Hai in Highland Square, west on I-70 to Federal Boulevard and 32nd Avenue.
The final tour of the year starts at the Pajama Baking Company on Dec. 16 in the South Pearl Street district, about 12 miles south on Wadsworth Boulevard then east on the 6th Avenue Freeway to I-25 South. You’ll try The Crushery, Kaos Pizza and the Pearl Street Grill before the afternoon is done.
There will be delicious pairing and a chance to speak informally with a chef in a small environment since there’s a 12-guest max. The two-hour tour costs $39 per person. For more information, contact Becky Creighton at (303) 495-5487.
